Mekong Delta Day Trip

We are a group of 4 young people and we took a day trip to the Mekong Delta organized by PhuBinh Voyages in May 2017. The trip was organized very professional. In the morning, the car picked us up at our place. We booked a 7-seats car but got upgraded to a mini van which made our 2-hour ride very comfortable and spacious. On arriving at My Tho, we were greeted by our tour guide, Doan who was a very outgoing man. We took a boat to go to our first destination, Unicorn Island while hearing Doan telling us about My Tho and the surrounding area. Our first activity was to learn how honey is made and try out honey tea with some local specialties such as peanut candy and dried fruits.

Next, we walked across the countryside and were introduced to different kind of fruit trees and the traditional clothes of Vietnamese women in the Mekong Delta – ao ba ba. We then headed to listen to the traditional music of the south of Vietnam while tasting some exotic fruits. It was new to some of my friends yet very delicious.

The highlight of our tour was our sampan boat ride. It was very fun sitting on that boat hearing the locals communicating to each other along with the little ‘traffic’ that we encountered. Next, we had a horse ride heading to our restaurant to have lunch. Our lunch was plentiful. The food was tasty and definitely very fulfilling.

This day trip to Mekong Delta was definitely worth it. We were very impressed by the services given by PhuBinh. We totally recommend this day trip to Mekong Delta and PhuBinh Voyages!

The Essence of Vietnam

My American/Vietnamese family and two American friends just completed a two week trip in Viet Nam organized by Phu Binh Voyages. The trip covered the three regions, South, Center and North, plus Dien Bien Phu (DBP) and Son La in the far north west. We used air conditioned vans and stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels. There was little contact with ordinary Vietnamese, except at DBP, and my wife, Hong's, ancestral village, (Ngu Phuc, Kim Thanh District, Hai Duong province), but perhaps this is unavoidable. There were 4 tour guides (DBP, South, Center and North). At DBP Tuan spoke no English or French, but this part of the trip was only for Hong, Desiree and myself, and we did not mind as we like to speak Vietnamese. He showed us the important sites at DBP and Son La. It was very interesting and educational. It is a fast growing region. The guides were: South, Lam, Center, Vu, and North, Bui Ha. All spoke good English and knew Vietnamese history. Ha was good at Chinese, the only written language used before the 20th century in Viet Nam. Mrs. Hong Hoa is very sensitive to the needs of tourists coming from far away. At this time of year it can be very hot. It is almost impossible to adapt for a short stay. Therefore the accommodations were air conditioned and comfortable. The meals in hotels and restaurants were generally tasty and safe. No one had a food related health problem. The outstanding feature of Phu Binh Voyages was the high degree of service and especially the reactivity of Mrs Hong Hoa. She was always available and readily made any last minute changes that were requested. The trip was enjoyed by all.
