By visiting these markets, visitors will also understand more about the culture of the local population. If you travel to Myanmar but miss  these famous markets, your trip will be not complete.

Amara Waddy market

Inle Lake is an ideal place for those planning to travel to Myanmar. This freshwater lake is wide and clear, beautiful as an picture of paradise. After visiting Inle Lake, you should go to the Amara Waddy Market because they are quite close to each other.

Known as the land of Buddhism, the Buddha statue is also a souvenir that is widely sold in Myanmar. At Amara Waddy Market, you will be overwhelmed by the numerous statues with different sizes. However, you shouldn’t buy but admire them only, or if you want to buy them as souvenirs, you should not take old statues because they will be kept by customs officers.

Bogyoke Aung San market

The Bogieoke Aung San Market, formerly known as Scott Market, is the largest market in Yangon with nearly 2,000 stands. Here, the goods are very varied, including gems such as: quartz, agate, marble, rubies ... of different colors. Therefore, Bogyoke Aung San is  known as the gemstone market. Depending on the different types of stone, it can cost from a few dollars to thousands of dollars.

Not only gems, the paintings are also remarkable. The oil paintings which depict ancient people life of Burma and their customs are an ideal gift for friends, relatives. In addition, they sell also handicrafts, wooden dolls, lacquers, traditional Longyi dresses from Myanmar.

Floating market (Inle lake)

Like another cities in Myanmar, Inle Lake area does not have modern shopping centres. The trade of local people takes place on floating markets on the lake. The market is open every five days and its location constantly changes. The Inthar people who live on the lake, exchange and sell all things made by themselves.

There are a number of floating markets on Inle Lake such as Inphaw Kone, Nampan Market (Nampan Village), Ywama Floating Market (Ywama Village), etc.

Myinkaba market

This ancient city is peaceful, sacred thanks to thousands of temple temples with the most unique architecture in Southeast Asia.

In the city, a lacquer village with more than 600 households living is also an interesting sightseeing. There are a lot of handicraft products that are skillfully crafted that you can hardly find elsewhere. So many people especially in the West are very interested in this Myinkaba village.

However, like many other markets in Vietnam, you should ask the price before deciding to buy something. And do not forget to bargain! Although there has a list price at the store, you should try to negotiate to reduce a bit of the money. For gemstones, you must be careful to avoid buying fake, poor quality goods. Ideally, you should visit the shops that have the business license and do not throw away the bill.
